Andrew has been a professional photographer for over twenty years. With a
degree in photography from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Andrew got
his start working as an independent photographer for Morris Wolf
Photography, a local studio specializing in weddings and bar mitzvahs. In
1987, he expanded his expertise and took a position as a commercial
photographer during the week while continuing with Morris Wolf on the
weekends. After a year, Andrew added photojournalism to his professional
repertoire when he began shooting for the Sun-Sentinel, the Miami Herald,
and the South Florida Business Journal. Andrew has photographed everything from
small products and annual reports to big sports names and renowned events.
By 1988, Andrew was making a name for himself as a special events
photographer, a commercial photographer and a photojournalist. He firmly
believes the diversity in his practice allows him a creative edge in
applying techniques and standards from one area of photography to another.
After about six years of freelance photography in almost every area of
photographic expertise, Andrew found his niche as a people person. In 1995,
he started his own photography company - Andrew Duany Photography, Inc. The
main core of his business is special events, however, his extensive
background allows him the flexibility to shoot just about anything. One of
the main reasons Andrew chose to focus his practice on special event
photography is that Andrew genuinely loves people. He loves the positive
energy that circulates during an event and he has the genius to capture it
on film. He has a remarkable ability to cover an event unobtrusively, all
the while capturing the experiences, instead of creating them. The most
rewarding part of his job is when his clients are truly appreciative of his
images. Andrew's strength lies in creating a balance of creativity and
tradition.
